The "Consumer," to whom Travelling Xman"refers, is the "inorganic being." His statement, "I don't care about your answer, it is not one I will ever read" is very Don Juan Matus-esque as can be seen in this final instruction of Don Juan to Carlos CastaƱeda:

"We will never be together again. You don't need my help anymore; and I don't want to offer it to you, because if you are worth your salt as a warrior-traveler, you'll spit in my eye for offering it to you. Beyond a certain point, the only joy of a warrior-traveler is his aloneness. I wouldn't like you to try to help me, either. Once I leave, I am gone. Don't think about me, for I won't think about you. If you are a worthy warrior-traveler, be impeccable! Take care of your world. Honor it; guard it with your life!"
--
Steve Savage "King of the Beasts"
http://sskotb.blogspot.com/Steve Savage "King of the Beasts"https://www.blogger.com/profile/16610708538681878553noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34066854.post-33752782111388596132008-08-15T19:24:00.000-04:002008-08-15T19:24:00.000-04:00Just about exactly right. But you're not entirely...Just about exactly right. But you're not entirely correct that there's nothing we can do about it, it's just that the Consumer tires us so incessantly and completely chasing illusions that we have seldom time or energy to review our situation and develop any kind of strategy. And worse yet, our tiredness often renders us in a twilight-like sleep state that allows us to think we are doing something, when in fact we are only having the waking equivalent of hypnagogic imagery, believing we are doing something while we yet remain sleeping. Sort of like in the morning when you have to piss really bad, and you think about it for a minute, then you find yourself standing in the bathroom, pissing, only to wake in a few minutes and realize it was only a dream, and you have not yet relieved yourself of any burden, it's only grown stronger in the few more minutes you lost while placidly dreaming of the pleasure of relief.

So the question I always pose to those who would write of the situation we are in is this: - and I don't care about your answer, it is not one I will ever read - so this is a question for you to answer, to yourself, while you lay awake in the darkest hours of the night and contemplate the nature of your existence - the fact that you, like every other living thing on this planet, will eventually see everything you care about fade away beyond your reach, and you yourself, eventually, will watch your health fail, and death open its awesome and hideous maw to crush and swallow you - and as you contemplate that - how can you be SURE that you are not deceiving yourself into believing you are "really pissing", and not just dreaming?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
