The Old Man sent His children to play
Amongst the Twinkling Lights;
Then anxiously awaited what they had to say
About all of the wonderful sights.
“Come home children, before it’s dark;
Remember, don’t be late!
They lock the gates and close the Park
When the clock strikes Eight.”
Midnight came and midnight went
And still no sign of One;
The fairest boy of all He sent,
Eternal Life, His Son.
He cannot bear this heartache,
Without he who most gave Him joy.
No happiness for Him to partake;
Longing for His beloved boy.
Alone the Old Man sits above,
A Shadow below His Crown;
Seething with Hate where once was Love
To bring the Caretakers down.
The Eternal Life they stole from Him
Will never bring them Joy and Peace;
They’ll live forever on the Outer Rim
In suffering that will never cease.
